Stamos-a-rama

I picked this up on Dlisted (seeing as I am not in the habit of watching Kerri-Anne) and it is an absolute gem. Stamos is completely open and frank about what is left of his career and he manages to show Kerri-Anne up for the cloying monstrosity that she is.

In vino veritas...

This is hilarious. Tragic, but hilarious.

I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I was actually watching when this went to air (....a benefit of working from home?) and I couldn't figure out what was more tragic - Kerri's outfit, or John off his face? I like his rough look though.....

I HEART George Takei

You may or may not have been following the furore that has blown up around U.S. basketballer Tim Hardaway's homophobic comments last week. The responses from all corners of the community have been immensely encouraging in their exposure of the new shift in what is acceptable behaviour, well, acceptable behaviour in front of the public eye, at the very least.

This response is certainly one of the most comical.

I love the way Dr Sulu manages to flavour his PSA with every homophobic straight boy's worst nightmare (or, more likely than not, biggest fantasy).

Another B&S Quote

Brothers and Sisters has become my guilty pleasure since Alias went by the wayside - well, Brothers and Sisters and Heroes. I think there is just enough schlock and schmaltz in the two shows to more than make up for the preposterous outings of Ms. Bristow. The good bits are made up for by Battlestar Galactica (now with added Alias alumnus).

Of course, this means I am now having to watch three shows a week instead of one but, thanks to the vagaries of American programming, they are never all on in one week.

Aaaanyway, I just wanted to share another insubstantial quip from the show. You may remember, this was edging towards being a regular feature for a while, and it probably would have been but for the aforementioned vagaries of American television programming.

Sarah: He's bi...
Kevin: No one's bi. Have you ever heard of a seventy year-old bisexual. At some point you make a choice, thus the expression: bi now, gay later.

It's totally your fault I'm hooked on this show too (Heroes and Ugly Betty I can blame on other people)...

I watch it with my boyfriend, who can't help but comment at least once an episode how it's inferior to Six Feet Under, and yet somehow derivative of Six Feet Under.

That being said, I've not watched the first four seasons of Six Feet Under, but what I HAVE seen of it leaves me to believe that it's not as warm, soft-focus, Hallmark-y, which is part of why I like Brothers and Sisters.

That and Justin and Kevin are hot.

When is it going to be on??

Having only watched ALL the promos for B&S, one could tell immediately, it's the middle-America version of Six Feet...

I enjoy sci-fi, but I think Galatica's dull... stopped watching it way back. Might check it out again.

I don't find that B+S has much at all in common with Six Feet Under beyond the initial setup. It is just an overage family drama in the vein of Providence or Thirty Something.

As for Galactica, check it out. Give it a chance. Very interesting show.

Catch up, you twats!

The next season of Shameless starts in the UK on the second day of the new year.

If you haven't caught this show, written by Cracker alumnus Paul Abbott, then get cracking. You've about a month to take in the 25 or so episodes so far.

Don't know what I'm talking about? Here's the first ten minutes of the first episode. If you're not hooked by the irascible charm of the Gallaghers by the end, well, I'd recommend you not watch any more because you'd probably find it rather dull.

I like crazy Sheila and her ever-present clean house. And that kid, Carl, who tends to say very little, but I reckon his character simmers -- he's in the mix, but most times it's under the radar. Reminds me of moi.

Everything Ends (and is released to own on DVD)

I know a lot of you guys in Australia have been waiting for the final season of Alan Ball's superb-beyond-words televison serious, Six Feet Under. Well it is about to happen. Amazon are taking pre-bookings now. Believe me, it is money well spent. Saying goodbye to a television series, especially one as good as 6FU was, is difficult but they certainly gave everyone a send off to remember.

While you are all twiddling your thumbs waiting for Channel Nine to show how it all ends (god knows how long that will take) pop over and take a trip down memory lane. The official site has all of Claire's artworks, with detailed descriptions from the artists who created them, for you to critique.

While you wander the electronic galleries of cyberspace, listen to "Breathe Me" by Sia. It is the final track ever played on Six Feet Under. It is funny how this track and the show will always be linked. After you watch the finale you will never hear this track the same way.

R.I.P.

P.S. Be careful, some of the artworks are from the final season and are a little spoilery!

P.P.S. Sia is from Adelaide! Go Australia!!!

P.P.P.S. If you haven't seen the show yet, set aside a week and watch it ALLL!!! I envy you!

Very true Stuboo, though I haven't yet seen series 5.

I have been hanging out for the Region 4 version, but it is getting harder and harder to wait (and not order from Amazon!) with no word about its local release date.

I must be patient.

(And no, I can't download it...I would feel too guilty!)

p.s. Mikey, do you know what Alan Ball is up to these days? Any goss on a new show?

Of course there is news. He is developing some sort of new tv series, with... wait for it... VAMPIRES!!! How cool will that be if it comes off.

From http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117931816?categoryid=14&cs=1

Project is set in a world where vampires and humans co-exist after the development of synthetic blood. First book, "Dead Until Dark," revolves around a waitress in rural Louisiana who meets the man of her dreams only to find out he's a vampire with a bad reputation.
