Is this man the Kevin Bacon of the music industry?

A few weeks ago Donald over at BlatherBlog gave a heads up on José González's cover of Kylie's "Put Your Hand On Your Heart" (you can check out a live version over at songs:illinois, though the quality is pretty bad). Don also pointed everyone in the direction of of Sony's magnificent Bravia advertisement that featured José's song Heartbeats and a quarter of a million coloured bouncy balls.

That is all well and good except that I was walking to the tube yesterday and I wound up The Knife's album "Deep Cuts" on my iPod only to be greeted by a great little electro track named "Heartbeats".

It turns out that José has not only covered Kylie and The Knife but also Bruce Springsteen, Massive Attack and Joy Division.

This guy is a one man cover band.

Thank sweet baby Jesús that he is also brilliant musician.

On a side note, you can see a cover of the Bravia advertisement with army motif here thanks to Snoken Productions (via BoingBoing).

I really do recommend The Knife also. If you like your vocal electro bands then these guys are the new darlings. You may know the singer, Karin from her guest vocal on that fantastic Royksopp track "What Else Is There?". Their new album "Silent Shout" got a really good write up over at Pitchfork, so you have no excuse whatsoever! Go get Nordic!

Oddly enough I'm listening to Jose right now, just as I was reading your post - he's being played on RRR again...
