Two Rounds of Montagues

It is too wet to eat outside in the park today and continue reading (still) Jeffery Eugenides' "Middlesex" so I have been stuck in the office eating my prepak sandwiches and Orangina.

I have a sort of sick fascination for English prepak sandwiches. There are so many delightful flavours that are almost indistinguisable from each other except for their colour. Basically each sandwich consists of some sort of meat mixed with mayonnaise and chopped vegetable mix. When you stop at a sandwich shop to buy a freshly made sandwich, all the fillings are sitting on display in bowls, waiting to be smeared on the bread. You can even buy the stuff in shops.

Fresh salad is entirely optional.

Oh how far we have come from the Earl of Sandwich's time. As naughty as he was at least he used fresh ingredients.

There it is, my first British guilty pleasure: Prepak sandwiches. Check out this Sandwich Guide for the wonderful range (yeah, there's a website)!
